Out of office // Maternity leave
It feels like just yesterday that my husband and I found out we were going to be parents. Nine months later, we are patiently impatiently anticipating the arrival of our little one. It's been a roller coaster of a year to say the least. Shooting weddings whilst pregnant definitely had its challenges, especially with my growing bump. I have to say, though, it was really a beautiful experience to be able to share in my couple's love stories during my own journey of going from marriage to motherhood. There's just something really unique about this wedding season that I cannot wait to share with my daughter in the years to come.
Having said that, I would like to send a special thank you to all of my wonderful, supportive clients who made this year truly special. I know it probably wasn't the most ideal situation, having your wedding photographer waddling around with the looming threat of pre-term labor overhead. Yet you all stuck with me through it, and trusted me throughout the process. So really, THANK YOU. I have been so blessed to have known you all and share so much of your joy during this incredible time in your lives.
I would also like to thank all of my wonderful second (and third) shooters for having my back over these last few months. There's seriously no way on earth I could've made it through this wedding season without you (and your cameras) by my side. Thank you for treating my couples like your own and being extra patient with me and my physical inabilities. Most notably Kelly Mendoza, Carlie Davis, and most of all my partner in crime, Kaysha Weiner. I appreciate and love you ladies more than you know.
Now, we begin a whole new chapter of our lives referred to as "parenthood." With only 11 days left until my actual due date, this little babe could literally be here at any moment. So my husband and I are taking this precious time to enjoy each other while giving lots of extra snuggles and love to our pets and prepping our little home for our home birth. We are so thrilled for this truly transformative and life-changing experience and in doing so have elected to do things a little unconventionally (in the U.S. anyway) by having a drug-free labor, using a midwife, and having a home birth. I won't get into it too much, but if you are interested or curious at all, this is a fantastic article that explains why we have decided to go this route.
Again, we have been so overwhelmed with love and support from all of our friends, family, and clients these last weeks and we are so incredibly thankful for everyone's continued support during these final days of pregnancy and all the way through the first few weeks of parenting, as we attempt to figure this all out for the very first time. Please keep sending us your prayers and positive vibes for a happy and safe birth and I will be back in February to let you all know how it went. :)
Maternity leave begins December 15th through the month of January. During this time I will do my best to answer any potential wedding inquiries for the 2015 wedding season, so please do not hesitate to shoot me an email and I will be in touch shortly.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Brandi, Will, and baby Lemon.
